Position:  Produce Department Manager –Rural Alaska

Position Overview:

Candidate will be responsible for all phases of the Produce Department’s operations.  Manages and controls the operations of the Produce Department to ensure that company standards and expectations are consistently met.  Executes daily business practices that will deliver the desired sales and profit results, while maintaining good quality customer service.   Manages the operations of the Produce Cooler to ensure new merchandise gets to the sales floor in a timely manner and are received properly and maintains tight control of all merchandise in stock areas.  The candidate must maintain a high level of customer service and integrity. The candidate will plan, order, and process produce products according to work plan and standards to maximize sales and gross profit.

Responsibilities:

• ·         Responsible for ordering, receiving, merchandising and rotation of produce product
• ·         Monitors the maintenance of produce marketing and produce appearance.
• ·         Understands company and store inventory results and goals, and is responsible for the Produce Department’s monthly inventory process including preparation and execution of inventory guidelines.
• ·         Maintains adherence to company safety policies and ensures the safety of associates and customers
• ·         Works with the Store Manager in controlling payroll hours as a primary controllable expense within the Produce Department
• ·         Maintains profit margins for the Produce Department
• ·        Must be versatile and willing to work in other areas of the store as deemed by the Store Manager

Qualifications:

• ·         Must be at least 18 years of age
• ·         Three or more years of Produce retail experience
• ·         Must have excellent customer service experience
• ·         Must have time management, organizational and prioritization skills
• ·         Must be physically fit with the ability to lift 70 pounds repeatedly and stand for hours at a time
• ·         Must have good communication skills
• ·         Must possess basic math skills
